“unattended-upgrades” is installed by default. Why is this package running everyday, searching for packages in improperly-formated repos and fails every day as seen in ‘/var/log/unattended-upgrades’? This needs to be uninstalled or set the correct variables in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades!!

ubiquity: If I come to the last dialog during the installer of Mint (Name, Computer name, Password) I enter at first my name, than I press several times the tab key, leaving computer name and user name at the prefilled values. If I am now in the first field for entering my password the field with the user name gets and stays completely marked, but this should not be the case.

I installed (64 bit) with German language. After booting the installed system I find in the language settings the message about incomplete language packs for 4 English and 2 German language variants. The annoying thing is, that each of those 6 language packs have to get installed separately, so this really wastes some time. I did several installs of Serena and found the problem reproducible.

Until Mint 18 Sarah there was for the menu the option “menu hover delay”. This is not the same as the option with the same name in 18.1 Serena, as also the tool tip reveals, if you hover the option.

The new option delays the appearance of the menu, if you have the option to open the menu by hovering it in the panel activated.
Configuration option for the menu urgently missed:
The old option delayed switching the categories. This means, if you have selected a category and want now to move the pointer to the menu entry to the right, you can (with the delay set to e.g.150 ms) move the mouse diagonally over other categories without activating them by doing so. Without the delay the categories, touched by the mouse pointer get at once activated and the command in the right column is not more there.

Until Mint 18 Sarah there was for the menu the option “menu hover delay”. This is not the same as the option with the same name in 18.1 Serena, as also the tool tip reveals, if you hover the option.
This leads to the result, that without the delay you have to move the mouse at first properly to the right and then up or down to the needed command; diagonal (and far quicker and more logical) movements are without the delay not possible.
The new option delays the appearance of the menu, if you have the option to open the menu by hovering it in the panel activated.
As this category delay has now been (erroneously?) removed the menu in 18.1 appears as a regression in usability. Please restore this option.

Bug Found: 24 hour format won’t change to 12 hour in vertical panel mode

To reproduce: Change panel to vertical panel, then change clock from 24 hour to 12 hour, the clock will display in 24 hour format still. If you change panel to horizontal, time will be correct, change back to vertical and it changes back to 24 hour format, but settings still say 12 hour

When attempting to connect to a WPA/WPA2-Enterprise network using either the NetworkManager panel applet or Network Settings dialogue. Expected behavior is that a configuration dialogue for security settings (identity, password, CA cert, etc.) should pop up, allowing user to configure network. NM should then connect to the network. Actual behavior is that NM displays the “connecting to network” animation but never connects, pops up the security dialogue, or gives any error message (at least in the GUI). However, configuring the same WPA2 Enterprise connection through the “Connect to a Hidden Network” dialogue (i.e., manually) works as expected.

The problem is that if I select the option to remember forever the username and password, it will not have effect: if I reboot Linux Mint, the next time I’ll try to access my ftp trough nemo I’ll get the request of username e password. So… nemo doesn’t remember my credentials… it’s frustrating.

If the transfer window is open (maximised) in front of the other program (firefox for example) and you click to minimise the transfer window, nemo will automatically pop up in front of the other program. Not a major bug but annoying from a window management point of view.

If you plug in a USB, it auto mounts in a location on the desktop but if you unplug it, plug in another, and re-insert the first, the desktop icons overlap each other. I've noticed a similar issue in previous Mint releases. It would be great if the icons could auto position.

small bug in all Linux Mint Cinnamon editions (maybe with Nemo). When I drag and drop some file(s) on an archive , my expectation is the files being added to it , but instead of that an error message pops out : “An error occurred while adding files to the archive. You can’t add an archive to itself.” . The Mate edition does not have this problem

If Nemo is open with 2 folder-panes the user can switch between both panes with F6, that is fine, if one uses the file-manager with keyboard only. The problem is, that F6 only works at once, if you have set Nemo to open with 2 panes. If Nemo opens with 1 pane (default setting) and the second pane gets opened via F3 (or menu), pressing F6 does at first nothing – no reaction at all. You can either click the second pane with the mouse (what is against a keyboard-only usage) or you have to navigate in the first pane anywhere (e.g. by pressing backspace), only after that F6 is reacting

spices: If I select the radio box to choose an applet and then I’ll click the button to install it, the applet is installed but it’s not active: maybe a new user expects to have it immediately in the panel after the download… in fact forcing the user to come back in the list of the installed applet to enable the just downloaded applet is not user friendly, in my opinion.

mintlocale: I installed (64 bit) with German language. After booting the installed system I find in the language settings the message about incomplete language packs for 4 English and 2 German language variants. The annoying thing is, that each of those 6 language packs have to get installed separately, so this really wastes some time. I did several installs of Serena and found the problem reproducible.
